The best cared for cars are often the best to begin with

Have you ever noticed how the best family cars also seem to be the best cared for?

This is because discerning owners are also more likely to take care of their cars, getting them regularly serviced and going the extra mile in keeping them truly clean.

In other words, if they’re smart enough to have done their research thoroughly in selecting the right car in the first place, they’re also likely to be the type of person to look after the car properly.

In some ways, it’s a question of intelligence.

It may be stretching the point too far to suggest a direct correlation between the shiniest cars on the street with the freshest oil and the owners’ IQ levels, but there is some truth in this.

After all, it makes economic sense to look after your car properly – keeping it well serviced, keeping the bodywork clean and rust-free, and the interior clean and fresh.

Besides allowing you to feel good as you cruise along, it helps the car to drive better, and preserves its value. You’re also likely to be steadier and, therefore, safer driver as you clearly care about the car you’re in; the two things generally go together.

This is particularly true for family cars. Kids are even more expensive to run than cars – so look out for a family car that is well looked after, and you can be pretty sure the family in that car will have its feet metaphorically planted firmly on the ground.

The parents, in particular, are far more likely to be the kind of people who know what’s really important in life; safety, spending money on the right things for their children, and looking after their environment. In many ways, a clean and well-serviced car sends the same message as a clean house; a far more important one than its age and cost.
